Mr Fleay had started writing this (and had got as far as making the title), but felt he needed copies of other job descriptions to get any further. Other board members would forward the material to him, and then he would finish up.
INTERNET COMPILATION ALBUM
Mr Fleay had sent copies to John Peel and to Jimmy Possession, and would send further copies to a couple of other places. In order to push it a bit further, Mr Whitaker would ask the Cubans to mention it a bit (and everyone would ask other bands to do the same if possible), while Mr Hibbett would FACT the press releases to some Internet/Music type journalists.
BPI
Mr Hibbett had not actioned this yet, and thus it would PEND until next time.
DEMO GUIDE
A draft of the Demo Guide was presented to the meeting, and edited there and then before being passed as VALID. It would be set up on the webpages as a new version of the FAQ.
ORGANISATIONAL ISSUES
WEBPAGES
The webpages had been altered as discussed at the last meeting. Messrs Fleay and Hibbett had devised a Cunning Thing whereby people Bookmarking our page would get a tiny AAS logo in their favourites list, which was ACE. Next in development at the AAS Computer LAB was an AAS logo replacement for the logo in Internet Explorer.
NEWSLETTER
There was some discussion about this, and the meeting considered whether to just hold on until we released something. Eventually it was decided that we would go ahead and do the Internet Special a.s.a.p., then do another one when the next lot of records came out too. To this end, Mr Fleay would BUFF his Future Of Music Press article, and FACT Mr Mishra the questionnaire, whilst Mr Hibbett would work up some more stuff, notably a follow-up to Project B. But what was Project B?
PLUGGERS
Mr Fleay now had their address, and would FACT them some stuff.
DISTRIBUTION
Paul had not been spoken to of late.
FINANCE
Rob Wandrin' Allstars had now cashed his cheque, and Mr Whitaker had untangled the financial arrangements between himself and Pala, with the band agreeing that their cheque should go to Mr Whitaker, while he would give them all of his quota of records, and DEAL that worked happily for all. Finally, Mr Fleay was actually issued the cheque that he hadn't been actually issued last time.
AWAY DAY
With our Financial Systems now fully in order, the meeting briefly discussed the next Away Day. As with last time, it was agreed that lodging and a meal be paid for out of the TITHE, while GIN would come from Board Members' personal funds. It would probably be occurring in the Peaks, as with previous years, at some point in April to be decided at the next meeting. Mr Hibbett pointed out that this year it was his turn to not have to sleep in a bunk bed, and was MOCKED, quite cruelly.
FOOTBALL
Mr Whitaker noted that he had accepted Bradford's possible relegation this season, but that They Would Be Back.
A&R
FRANKIE MACHINE
Mr Fleay passed a copy of his single to Mr Whitaker for VALIDATION. He then reported that his Portuguese Friend was BOOKED for cover action. The single would (subject, of course, to Validation) be put onto Blue Vinyl. Meanwhile album sessions CONTINUED, and he reported that it was now 75%ish completed, leading to the prospect of a joyful release in Summer. ACTION!
In other exciting news, he was GLEEFUL to report unanimously GRATE reviews appearing of previous singles, and that he would be playing a gig in Sheffield, on the bill with Mr Hibbett, who promised to try and sort out another joint gig in Derby over Easter, and possibly a London gig too.
Finally, there was lengthy discussion of catalogue numbers, and Mr Fleay asked that his single be 029, with the album at 030, giving 027 to Mr Hibbett for his single, and 028 remaining free for the moment. This was AGREED.
MJ HIBBETT
The new single "You Will Be Hearing From My Solicitor" was VALIDATED, and allotted the number 027, with the Internet Enabled theme being the main GIMMICK. He reported that 2 other songs had been recorded ready for the putative album, with 3 more LARNED UP during practices for Pop-A-Go-Go and more yet to come, some of which he would record to a click track and then add to, others to start with the BAND. Mr Fleay suggested an ALTERATION to a lyric, and this was gleefully accepted.
Mr Hibbett noted that he hoped to have a Band Meeting soon, to ensure that all were ONBOARD for Validators: Phase 2 and THRILLED all and sundry with some new IDEAS. Finally, it was agreed that a session requested by a Cambridge Radio station would be recorded chez Fleay.
JOHNNY DOMINO
There had been no news lately.
SALOON
Nor had there with the 'Loon, although they would be at Pop-A-Go-Go, where WHOEVER were the two least horribly pissed Board Members could have a chat with them.
DENVER & CARWASH
Mr Whitaker had BOOKED IT, DANNO. The Acid House Punk Metal sessions would ensue SOON, hopefully at the Hive, and Mr Fleay passed on the phone number for Wigwam Bamford, who would hopefully be participating I
ANY OTHER A&R
TEENBEAT
Mr Hibbett had not yet acted upon this, but would do so.
DERBY BANDS
Mr Fleay reported that there seemed to be loads of Derby Bands about at the moment, yet he had no idea what they were like. He PLEDGED to go and find out, at his earliest convenience.
VIC 20
Recording would still be occurring, sometime very soon.
CORRESPONDENCE
Mr Fleay brought with him some of the correspondence mentioned at previous meetings, for Board Members to look at. Which they did.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
FANZINE MAILING
Mr Fleay reported that he was gradually mailing out Value Packs of various of our recordings to Fanzines, as it was better really than having them lying around his flat, and for this he was applauded.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING
The next meeting would take place in The Three Nuns in Loughborough at 8pm on March 13th.
