Mr Hibbett had waited four months for a plugging report, not four years. Otherwise all was WELL.
MATTERS ARISING
AWAY DAY - ANY ADDITIONAL IDEAS?
There were no additional Ideas of Things To Discuss.
BIG DERBY GIG THING
Mr Fleay stated that he wished to do SOMETHING when the Frankie Machine album came out. But what eh?
ORGANISATIONAL ISSUES
WEBPAGES
Web sales would be discussed much further during the second half of the Away Day. It was noted that the lyrics whizzing along the bottom of the main page went a bit fast on some machines. These would be slowed down.
NEWSLETTER
Mr Fleay had sent Mr Hibbett the Mailing List, and it had been utilised. Mr Hibbett would FACT back the revised list with returns removed. A new Newsletter proper would be issued when the Frankie Machine album came out.
PLUGGERS
Mr Whitaker had spoken to them, and had received apologies and a copy of Mr Hibbett's final report. They sent their regards, and Lee recommended getting married in Las Vegas. Bless.
DISTRIBUTION
Mr Whitaker had not been able to speak to Paul as, AMAZINGLY, he had not been returning any calls. We had received statements for January to March 2002, but STILL not for August-December 2001 (which, coincidentally, was when most of our sales had been made). February 2001 had still not been paid either.
Mr Fleay reported that the statements and returns didn't add up, and that the fact that Prime had returned almost everything, including some records that had only been released a couple of months beforehand was "confusing", some would say "ridiculous". It was agreed that everyone would make contact to find out about other distribution companies, and that this would certainly be discussed later.
FINANCE
Mr Fleay reported that, despite the lack of money from our idiot distributors, the accounts were Healthy. He then rang Paul from the Chemistry Experiment to get payment details, and told him to expect a cheque for £100 ADVANCE, which he would send out IMMEDIATELY.
FOOTBALL
The competition was on a knife edge, with Mr Whitaker and Mr Dresden drawing - Mr Hibbett would DEFINITELY get the trophy for next time.
It was agreed that the scheme had been a GRATE success, and would be repeated next season.
A&R
THE FRIGHTENED PRISONERS OF THE KRAKEN
They had apparently asked Overground for a final report for their campaign. A Session CD had not been received yet, and Mr Hibbett had not asked Mr Dixey about Sorted putting some of their stuff out, but would do.
THE CHEMISTRY EXPERIMENT
A Bad Review had appeared in the NME, but then the NME is a pile of shite. Mr Fleay had not done their trumpets yet, but was GAGGING for it.
FRANKIE MACHINE
Meetings had been held with Accacia Media, and the video would be filmed next week. Once that was done and edited, it would be ready to SEND!
Mr Fleay had changed his mind and decided NOT to put it out as a double album as a singles collection might impair his ability to sell the huge piles of singles still in his attic. The artwork was being worked on, and he hoped to release the album around July. Gigs in Leicester and Swansea were IMMINENT, and the Swansea Promoter was finding out the cost of using Bad Moon Promotions for him.
MJ HIBBETT
The Fair Play Trophy single was OUT, with CD-Rs sent out and many emails sent too. Mr Whitaker would contact b3ta newsletter and Ricardo Cuban Boys about it, whilst Mr Fleay would FACT u.k.m.a. and PopBitch to further alert THE KIDS.
Gigs were happening, and recording continued apace. Mr Hibbett had been too poorly to appear on the BBC3 thing but had managed to compile 14 of the so far recorded songs onto CDs, which were given out. It was, he said, sounding "Fantastic", and sessions might be expanded to fit in a few more songs.
JOHNNY DOMINO
Nothing had beeen heard.
L CHRISTIAN LUNDHOLM
L Chris had nearly finished recording, and had sent Mr Hibbett 29 mp3s, which he had cut down to fit onto CDs for all. L Chris was going to think about his requirements, and then we would be able to get him a quote. Some promo would be required, and it was agreed that this was a project we might ask any new distributors about.
ANY OTHER A & R
THE PO BOX
Mr Fleay had had emails from bands who had sent stuff this time, but a Drop had yet to be made. Mr Whitaker stated that Riviera had been OK, but the others were shit. Mr Hibbett hadn't listened to his yet, and Mr Fleay had thought that Blimey had been OK.
ALUMNI NEWS
Mr Whitaker's Jocelyn Project was ongoing, and work had been done. He and Mr Hibbett had been to see Terrashima, and stated that they were Really Good. Finally, Stumble now had a new Bass Player, Mat from Derby Music Forum, and Stevie Stumble had stated that their "album" was "coming out soon". In "Japan".
CORRESPONDENCE
A bloke called Keith had sent three identical and massive mp3s to us. Mr Fleay had Dealt with him.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
None.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING
The next meeting would take place at the Three Nuns, Loughborough, on June 18th.
