As the board gathered around Mr Whitaker's coffee table, an empty chair was noted. Mr Hibbett pointed out that Mr Dresden was very busy indeed at the moment, and had sent his apologies.
VALID
Agreed as Accurate.
MATTERS ARISING
There appeared to be none at present.
ORGANISATIONAL ISSUES
5TH BIRTHDAY RELATED ISSUES
SINGLES COMPILATION
Mr Fleay had designed a lovely sleeve, which everybody liked. Mr Whitaker pointed out it's resemblance the "Park Life" single, but fuck it eh? Giles Domino had also designed a really nice picture for the CD onbody.
It was agreed that there would be a minute's silence on the end of the CD, for the Saloon single, and Mr Hibbett would get the introduction sorted out. Meanwhile more DATs and CDs were given to Mr Fleay, who now had everything apart from the Stumble and Lazer Guided tracks, which he would be collecting soon.
Mr Fleay suggested furthering the "beer mat" design (and decreasing the need for storage space) by having the CD made in a card wallet - Mr Hibbett would check out prices for this.
GIGS
August 2nd was now BOOKED for the Birthday All Dayer at the Vic, with the entrance fee set at a measly quid. Johnny Domino had agreed to play, as had MJ Hibbett & The Validators and Plans & Apologies. The Frightened Prisoners Of The Kraken wanted to come down, and would do their best, whilst Frankie Machine and Lazer Guided might also be up for it. Mr Fleay would ask The Chemistry Experiment and Twinkie.
The London leg would take place two or three weeks later, with MJ Hibbett & The Validators and Frankie Machine playing, and possibly also the Wandrin' Allstars. This would be sorted out.
BAGS
Mr Whitaker had a catalogue, and it was agreed that we should start by purchasing 150 big bags, and see how that went.
BOOK
Mr Hibbett would prepare a THORT SHEET, upon which each board member would write a couple of sentences about each release, to be collated onto the CD-ROM.
NOW THAT'S WHAT I CALL VALID
This would be done too.
WEBPAGES
Mr Hibbett would update these with news of the evening's events.
DISTRIBUTION
PRIME
Mr Whitaker had tried ringing and, perhaps unsurprisingly, had been unsuccesful. He would now be sending recorded delivery letters both to the manager concerned and to the managing director.
YOUNG LACKEYS
The Big Book, containing all distribution information, was handed over to Mr Fleay, with ISAAC being sent to him later via Mr Hibbett. Mr Fleay would use this information to try and recoup money for Frankie Machine sales, but probably not to sell any more records in the shops. It was agreed that we would try for a small number of VALIDATED AAS Stockists, say five or so, and then concentrate other sales online, in a futuristic stylee.
FINANCE
Mr Whitaker returned the cheque book to Mr Fleay, who reported that the bank account was healthy, due to us putting lots of money in via the tithe and not actually spending it yet.
RECORD STALL
Mr Hibbett, yet again, delivered a stern sermon to all about the importance of actually DOING the record stall, and not just messing about drinking beer. The stall would be set up to sell records and give out goodie bags as people left the All Dayer, doubling up as a Door Desk.
FOOTBALL
It had been a very close finish indeed, but Mr Fleay had emerged as this year's triumphant victor with 21 points, closely followed by messrs Dresden (24), Hibbett (25) and Whitaker (28). The trophy was presented to him in a moving ceremony in the back garden, with photographs and everything. Afterwards the Board relaxed by discussion the end of season positions, and the prospects for next year.
A&R
PLANS & APOLOGIES
Mr Hibbett had seen them at the Bull & Gate, and Mr Fleay had witnessed their MIGHT at Derby's recent Society Wedding. He reported that their new album was sounding really good, and that he had advised them not to repress the first album, rather to get the next one out.
FRANKIE MACHINE
The Beer Festival gig was ready to go, on July 9th. WELL DONE. Not much had happened on the US Album, although apparently the Org Compilation was now "due out soon". He was also considering having a track on a compilation put together by a chap from Colchester.
On the recording front, he would be finishing off his song for Moo's Walkman compilation over the weekend, and would be entering the studio next weekend with Steve and Giles Domino for some hot rocking good times.
L CHRISTIAN LUNDHOLM
Mr Hibbett had sent out all 25 of the review copies of this album, and had so far only had one response, saying it might get mentioned in Music Week. This was a little disappointing, and he was rather dreading having to email L Chris with the news.
MJ HIBBETT & THE VALIDATORS
Mr Fleay presented Mr Hibbett with the finished MASTER, which was then listened to. Artwork was finished, the MultiMedia Aspect was complete, and Mr Hibbett had arranged to see Key in the morning - let's ROCK!
He had also prepared a lengthy list of contacts for the publicity campaign, and Mr Fleay promised to forward his good ones on. Mr Whitaker brought down some jiffy bags from the Agent Alice Box, and Mr Hibbett gratefully took the bulk of these for his mailouts. Gigs were being lined up, the sampler was online, and Mr Dresden was poised to get the promotional campaign going - things were looking GOOD!
Finally Mr Hibbett handed out CDs of new material, and there was much rejoicing.
THE PO BOX
There was nothing, as Neil was off on tour with Therapy? - blimey! Mr Whitaker had lost his A&R postcards, so Mr Hibbett would email him some new ones.
ALUMNI NEWS
The Kraken were after some more copies of their album, which perhaps they couldpick up if they made it to the All Dayer. Meanwhile Andy McCluskey had offered them some more free studio time, which was awfully nice.
Steve Domino appeared to be in high spirits at Moo's wedding, which, reportedly, had been a "beautiful day". All the board expressed their best wishes for the happy couple, also aaah - bless!
OTHER A&R
None.
CORRESPONDENCE
The Org Guy kept asking AAS to buy some adverts on his digitial telly channel.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
No.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING
The next meeting would take place in Leicester's Fashionable West End, meeting in Mr Whitaker's Living Room at 7.30 for 8.00pm on June 24th.
