Mr Hibbett had asked Pauly de Popex about this, and awaited a response.
ORGANISATIONAL ISSUES
WEBPAGES
The Mission Statement had been placed in the Validity section of the webpages, including the Latin (ish) version "annotae formosus magnus" which was possibly not exactly right, but looked quite good. Recent Minutes, Newsletters and the Away Day Report all needed to be updated, and this would be done.
NEWSLETTER
This had been done and sent out, to the satisfaction of one and all.
PLUGGERS
Mr Whitaker had spoken to Lee about the Kraken, and awaited a final response.
DISTRIBUTION
Mr Whitaker had spoken to Prime, who apparently were all busy and happy. They would soon be sending us some unsold back catalogue back. The previously invoiced amount had still not been received from them, and Mr Fleay was advised that he should chase Jamie for it.
FINANCE
Mr Fleay reported that everyone had been very good and changed their tithes to £15 each as discussed at the last meeting.
AWAY DAY
Everyone agreed that this had been a great success, both as a bonding exercise and as a source of exciting new Ideas. And also as a big piss-up. The report had been completed and was validated for the webpages. Messrs Whitaker and Hibbett expressed a desire for a Christmas Meal, which was questioned by Old Mister Fleay (who stated "Harumph! Humbug!"), but not very much, and soon it was agreed that this too would be an Excellent Plan.
FOOTBALL
Mr Fleay reported that the first half of the recent England game had been really good. It was agreed that many fans of football were whinging bastards, especially Manchester United supporters who, it was agreed, were a bunch of cunts. Mr Whitaker had had a very good time recently at Coventry, and was optimistic for the future of Bradford. Finally, the entire board expressed their HEARTY congratulations to Liverpool for their recent success. It made a nice change to be able to support the English team in such affairs.
A&R
FRANKIE MACHINE
Approximately 50 copies had been sold, and all hoped the single would continure to sell over time as its predecessors had, with further hopes of a mention in next month's Record Collector. Jimmy Possession had played it, and there was a good review in Drowned In Sound.
The band had played a couple of gigs, the one in Bath being really good, and London (with the Warm Jets, who were rubbish by the way) being a bit of a struggle. Mr Fleay was trying to organise some kind of gig in Derby featuring Franke Machine, Johnny Domino and Stars On The Water, but finding time to do so was proving a little difficult. Finally, he was considering doing a collection of cover versions for the internet, which was a Good Idea. He sincerely stated that this would be AFTER he has finished his album, which he promised to really really get finished as soon as he returned from Nice. Everyone hoped this would indeed be the case.
MJ HIBBETT
The London gig had been really good, and was available on an Internet TV thing to view. Bouyed up with enthusiasm the band were about to re-enter the studio to finish off existing material, and would be reconvening in June to learn up some more songs for the album. Mr Hibbett concisely and clearly, without going on AT ALL about it, then described his ideas for the cover of said album, which were ACE.
Finally, he announced that the Sorted compilation album "Havock Junction" had arrived that day, and would be out soon. It features his "Leave My Brother Alone" along with several other tracks that were really quite good.
JOHNNY DOMINO
Their split single was OUT NOW, and had humorously been recently flyered as by "Johnny Domnio". Actually, that's not exactly hilarious, but was all the news we had.
SALOON
Their split single was OUT SOON, and they would be playing at RoTA to launch it.
THE FRIGHTENED PRISONERS OF THE KRAKEN
Mr Fleay passed out promo CD copies of the album, which looked dead good, then demonstrated the artwork, particularly the inside artwork. This was BRILLIANT.
Finances had been agreed, with AAS funding 15% of the costs and The Kraken themselves 85%. Mr Whitaker would ring A2Z tomorrow to get some prices, and would also check that the ART was OK with them. He asked Mr Fleay to get the master copy and on-body art ready for this, whilst he himself would ask them for a bit more biographical data for press type people. Mr Fleay would ask discuss with them how cash would be sent between them.
After some actually rather efficient serious discussion the meeting summarised by hoping that, by the next meeting everything would be well on the way to being completed.
WANDRIN’ ALLSTARS
After much Deep Thought and flat moving, Rob from the Wandrin' Allstars had sadly decided to end the band, and move on and into either session playing or other bands. All were saddened by this.
DENVER & CARWASH
They have joined a religious sect.
ANY OTHER A & R
Mr Fleay had been to an all-dayer, and seen several bands. The most notable was Terrashima, who were brilliant and loud and well worth seeing.
CORRESPONDENCE
Mr Fleay passed a letter from Melting Vinyl about gigs to Mr Hibbett, and that was pretty much it.
ANY OTHER BUSINESS
MANCHESTER
Mr Whitaker announced that he was planning to move to Manchester! He hoped to go either in January or next September. There was discussion of how this would affect the board, and it was agreed that it would probably mean we would meet in the pub less often, but could try new methods instead, and anyway Manchester might very well yield some ROCK. Mr Whitaker was told to go with the blessing of the Board.
DATE OF NEXT MEETING
The next meeting would take place at the Three Nuns, Loughborough on 3rd July
