    a) The 1,000 quid is a ROUGH ESTIMATE from over a year ago based on our old vinyl suppliers
    b) it didn't cost a 1,000 to press up 500 7inches
    c) that included radio promotion, advertisements, printing covers, sending copies to papers etc. etc... all fully detailed...
    d) EAT MY LUNCH.

  • you must really be laughing at the idiots who give you money "oh we expect you to have a brain" if they or YOU were true diy you'd be encouraging them to put it out themselves instead of taking their money and ripping them off. if you want the bands to do it all themselves - why the fuck should they need = you? what purpose do you serve? very littel from what i can gather.

    The POINT of us, as is mentioned THROUGHOUT all our literature, is that rather than a band starting their own label and having to persuade someone to distribute them, find out what bits you need to make a record, find out where you can get them pressed, find out where to get a good deal for printing, work out mailing lists AND SO ON AND SO FORTH, this is all there and ready for them. With every release that goes through AAS (to quote the Company Song "We're not a label, we're more like a franchise") the label looks better, and the better the label looks, the better the BANDS look for being on a Cool Label. Also, if you read the web pages you'd know that we're putting together a "guide to releasing your own 7" single" document so that we can make it freely available to anyone else who gets the calling.

    What money? PLEASE FUCKING TELL ME WHERE WE ARE GETTING THIS MONEY FROM. I just spent three days working flat out organising a stage at a festival which our bands played on. All three of us spent the day working on the merchandising stand trying to SELL RECORDS for our bands, ALL of which is detailed and listed, and the money is safe at home ready to be taken to them. I personally am nearly 100 quid out of pocket from that. Add to that the fact that we all pay a percent age of our OWN WAGES into the label every month, add to that the fact that we all pay our own phone bills, rail tickets, petrol money, and a ton of postage promoting these bands, notice that none of the records ever actually make any profit, only recouping some of the costs, ALL OF WHICH IS RECORDED IN OPEN ACCOUNTS AVAILABLE FOR THE BANDS TO SEE, and ALL OF WHICH IS PAID BACK TO THE BANDS, and if out of all THAT you can find a way to rip people off and make a profit out of it, SURELY i would like to see it because despite acting like a spoilt little wanker you must in fact be a FUCKING GENIUS.

    Actually we ARE -very proud....we all put a lot of time and enthusiasm into this label and we haven't made a single penny - that's not why we're doing it....we do it because we love music and CARE about releasing stuff that we feel deserves it.....it's hard to live with but a 500 pressing 7" single will NEVER make money...the margin is too small - when you consider how many we give away to radio/press/fanzines and the fact the distributors margins mean any that get sold via that route LOSE money. We can't afford to pay for it all ourselves (but we have paid for SOME of our releases) and if a band has the money and wants to do it and we like them - who are you to say that's wrong???
