ANOTHER BLOW FOR THE MAN
AGENTS OF THE MAN reported their MASTER to be INCONSOLABLE today when he was told the FACT that AAS had managed to sign up two more BANDS consisting of THE KIDS to their CAUSE, causing yet another GRIEVOUS WOUND to his DEVLISH SCHEMES.

Events occurred in Derby PUB The Bless, and the scenes of joy were a thing to see. Top bands LAZER GUIDED and STUMBLE came together to sign contracts formalising their AGREEMENT to work with and under the auspices of ARTISTS AGAINST SUCCESS in an agreement of mutual aid and GLORY utilising the wonders of 7" vinyl to take their message to THE KIDS. The ensuing Split Single, featuring the GROOVESOME "Devotchka" by "The Guided" (as THE KIDS are already calling them) and the APTLY NAMED "Currently Everything Is Of Good Quality" by Stumble (as they are ... er... called) was also VALIDATED on the night, ready for it's release on September 28th, when surely THE WORLD will rejoice that such music is given an outlet without having to kowtow to the arse-wiping/bollock crushing WHIMS of the music "industry". YASS. Let us ROCK together in the spirit of THE SOUND.

BEING BOARD

THE BOARD of AAS have many exciting projects up their sleeves, some of which involve their mighty selves.

After the excitement of the Stumble/Lazer Guided single (see overleaf) our next release features company chairman MJ HIBBETT with the follow-up to previous singles "Clubbing in the Week" and "The Fair Play Trophy" (which John Peel played and we all got excited). He is joined by Mr Fleay on trumpet and guitar, as well as Mr Tim Pattison, of Prolapse, playing very loud drums. It's out on October 12th, and tells the story of a man who lives through two world wars, fights fascism, continues his political involvement in the world and has children all over the planet, before dying in a home where they can't get his name right. LET'S PARTY. Reviews so far include "getting better" (his Nan) and "enjoyable" (his mum), with his brother expected to comment "The music's all right, but can't you get someone else to sing?" which is what he always says.

Next up on the schedule is the PALA single, featuring Derby ROCKSMITHS on a ROCKING TIP. Probable lead track is "Be a Celebrity", but you'll find more details in our next issue. Also around this time (subject to continuing negotiations) we'll be releasing the new album from JOHNNY DOMINO, "Rabbit Themes". It's our first album, and it's BRILLIANT, really it is.

Hoving into view on the distant horizon are a big bunch of other projects, not least of which is our compilation album, which should feature all the bands currently aligned to the AAS CAUSE, and a few more to boot. We're hoping to keep costs to a minimum so we can charge as little as possible for it, so as to carry our message to THE KIDS, not least in the form of the COMPANY SONG, currently being rehearsed all over the country in preparation for the BAND-AIDESQUE recording session, featuring six guitar solos ALL AT THE SAME TIME.

Back with our inimitably styled Singles Series, there's a couple of contenders for the coveted position of being AAS017 - SIENNA are going to be STUDIO BOUND in the near future to record the follow-up to "Only Everything", while Manufacturing Co-ordinator, MR WHITAKER plans to allow the world to finally hear the results of his Number One Hit Single MISSION (as proscribed in that Bill Drummond book) on the compilation album, with the fruits of his NEXT project appearing on vinyl soon... And finally, having had a GOOD TIME using a Proper Studio to record "Born With The Century", MJ HIBBETT plans to take his band THE VALIDATORS (i.e. Rob and Tim) back into Stayfree to record his first proper CD album, sometime before Christmas,

And that's not all these gallant chaps are up to - if the Launch Gig on October 1st goes well (at which you may well be reading this) there are MIGHTY PLANS for more live extravaganza's, not least at LOLLOPALEICESTER, a (surprisingly) Leicester-based fortnightly showcase, to be run in conjunction with Sorted Records (along, hopefully, with Fortuna Pop! , Magic Teapot and PickledEgg). Further news in our next issue - can you bear to wait?
